From July 11 to July 17, there was a 44 percent increase in the country’s daily average of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases, according to Department of Health (DOH) data released on Monday.
Covid-19 instances increased from 1,467 per day from July 4 to July 10 to 2,091 per day from July 11 to July 17.
According to the most recent case bulletin, 14,640 new cases and one confirmed fatality occurred in the previous week.
The total number of severe and critical infections for the same period increased from 555 the previous week to 589 due to 35 new cases.
Only 481 of the 2,630 beds in the intensive care unit (ICU) are being used, or 18.3 percent, whereas 5,189 of the 21,809 non-ICU beds are being used, or 23.8 percent.
Approximately 71,322,848 or 91.32 percent of the target population for the nation (78,100,578) have received the Covid-19 vaccination as of this writing, including 77.81 percent of 8,721,357 seniors.
Out of the 71,322,848 people who received all of their vaccinations as of July 17, 15,592,533 have received booster doses.
Dr. Guido David, a fellow at the OCTA Research Group, stated in a tweet on Monday that the positivity rate, or the percentage of people who test positive for Covid-19 in an area, was 12.6% as of July 16 — 1.7 points higher than it was on July 9.
David continued by saying that positivity rates are extremely high in some regions of the country, particularly in provinces with more than 20% positivity rates.
Aklan, with a positivity percentage of 35%, Laguna, 22.6 %, Nueva Ecija, 21 %, Pampanga, 23.1 %, and Tarlac, with a positivity rate of 26.6 %, are among these provinces.
