Before the weekend, new enrollments exceeded 9.1 million: DepEd

The number of students enrolled has increased nationwide, according to the Department of Education (DepEd), to 9,192,331.

According to the most recent data from the DepEd, the CALABARZON Region (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) had the greatest turnout thus far.

The National Capital Region (1,389,331) and Region III (963,494) combined to total 1,596,668 residents in Region IV-A, according to the DepEd.

(Region IV-A reported enrolling the most students with 1,596,668; the NCR came in second with 1,389,331; and Region III came in third with 963,494)

According to enrollment data, of this total, 608,114 students were enrolled in kindergarten, 4,279,600 in elementary school, 2,965,068 in junior high school, and 1,339,519 in senior high school.

Currently, the DepEd offers three methods for enrolling students: in-person, remotely, and via a drop-box.

With more than 3 million students registered, the first day also saw a large turnout.

Given the amount of children registering, DepEd spokesperson Michael Poa previously encouraged the private sector to participate in stepping up the preparation for the new school year.

“It is definitely tuluy-tuloy and we’re making the premise that we’ll have 28.6 million for the coming academic year. The Brigada Eskwela was launched on August 1 this year, and inaanyayahan namin na mag-participate ang mga private sector organization at tulungan po kami dito sa paghahanda sa ating mga paaralan. As a result, consistently po, since nandiyan na tayo sa enrollment, kailangan din nating paghanda “He said during a press conference.

(We hoped that this would continue so that we could attain our 28.6 million assumption) (learners). Since we’re here discussing enrollment, it goes without saying that we also need to get ready for the return to class. For this reason, on August 1, we’ll launch Brigada Eskwela and ask our private sector organizations to assist us in getting ready for our schools.)

Similarly, Poa stated that ongoing promotion of vaccination and booster doses for students against the coronavirus sickness 2019 is a crucial component of good preparation.

He said that the DepEd has directed all regional offices to provide counseling to students, teachers, and non-teaching staff.

Once counseling is effective, schools will also have access to mobile immunizations to ensure the safe restart of lessons.
