The nationwide launch of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines no longer prioritizes the target demographic, a health official said on Friday.

Sen. Maria Imelda Josefa Remedios “Imee” Marcos had earlier urged the Department of Health (DOH) to do away with its prioritized list in order to prevent the waste of Covid-19 vaccinations.

The DOH officer in charge, Maria Rosario Vergeire, stated at a media event, “We do not have any prioritized lists anymore.”

According to Vergeire, the government established a prioritizing list earlier in the Covid-19 vaccination campaign because there weren’t enough shots available from March 1 until the third quarter of 2021.

She said, “But now that we have enough supplies, supplies will be enough till the end of this year, wala na po tayo ginagawang prioritizing (But now that we have enough supplies, supplies will be enough until the end of this year, we no longer practice prioritization).”

All populations who qualify may receive the Covid-19 vaccine.

Local government bodies no longer enforce immunization schedules.

According to Vergeire, the DOH continues to urge the target population’s unvaccinated individuals to have their first round of Covid-19 shots and the fully vaccinated to get their first booster dose.

She explained that only people with comorbidities aged 18 to 49 and adults 50 years and older are eligible for the second booster.

As of August 5, more than 71.8 million Filipinos had received their entire Covid-19 vaccination.

More than 9.7 million of the total population are teenagers, 4.2 million are children, and 6.8 million are seniors.

16.4 million people have had their first booster shot, while 1.4 million have received their second.
