From August 1–7, the daily average of Covid-19 instances increased by 13%.

The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases reported daily across the nation increased by 13% between August 1 and 7, according to a Department of Health (DOH) report released on Monday.

The number of Covid-19 instances increased to 3,904 per day from August 1 to 7, up from 3,443 per day from July 25 to July 31.

According to the most current case bulletin, 27,331 new cases and one verified fatality occurred in the past week.

The number of severe and critical infections for the same time period increased by 76 instances, to 772 from 744 the previous week.

The utilization rate for the 2,514 beds in the intensive care unit (ICU) is just 24.8 percent, or 624, whereas the utilization rate for the 21,548 non-ICU beds is 30.9 percent, or 6,648.

Approximately 71,898,721 or 92.06 percent of the target population for the nation (78,100,578) have received the Covid-19 vaccination as of this writing, including 77.90 percent of 8,721,357 seniors.

Out of the 71,898,721 people who have had all of their vaccinations as of July 31, a total of 16,603,097 have received booster doses.

Even though the National Capital Region has recorded more than 4,000 confirmed cases in three straight days, infectious disease expert Dr. Edsel Salvaa claimed there is no reason to raise the alert level in the region during a televised public briefing on Monday.

He mentioned that the Alert Level System for Covid-19 has parameters that must be adhered to.

“Unang-una, when the amount of healthcare utilization reaches more than 50%. First, the percentage of people using healthcare services must be higher than 50% in order for ADAR to be effective. Even if it reaches 50%, we still need to take into account the average daily attack rate (ADAR), which must be more than 18 percent, he added.

The ADAR for the area is still below 18, he added.
