More evacuation centers to maintain education in the face of emergencies

To ensure that school instruction continues, the government built more evacuation centers around the nation.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) spokesperson Mark Timbal stated that this intends to end the practice of utilizing schools as evacuation centers in a Laging Handa briefing on Thursday.

“There are more than 100 evacuation centers in the affected areas.

The Department of Education (DepEd) and our other departments are where we should focus our attention. (In numerous locations, more than 100 evacuation shelters have been built. This is how we support the Department of Education and the next generation, “Added he.

Timbal claimed that the NDRRMC consistently issues emergency alert alerts and conducts exercises for training local government entities and educators in disaster preparedness.

He also reminded pupils to take part in the September 8 third-quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill.

He said, “We hope that all schools and students would take part in this earthquake drill. Makiisa po ang ating mga eskwelahan at estudyante (sana).”

Prior to the start of school the next week, Timbal also advised eligible students to get their Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccinations.

“For the face-to-face classes here, “balik klase na tayo, balik eskwela” is appropriate. Huwag po natin kalimutang magpabakuna lalo na po kapag sinasabi sa atin eskwelahan na mayroon paparating na immunization program at launch, tayo dun. To our younger generations, we are returning to school for our in-person classes. Isama po natin ang mga magulang natin. Remember to get your shots, especially if the school starts a vaccination campaign. Bring your parents along, if you can), “Added he.

He also expressed his gratitude to the DepEd for doing everything in its power to protect the students who will be attending face-to-face classes since the epidemic started in March 2020.

As part of attempts to organize the government’s pandemic response, the NDRRMC took over the duties of the former National Task Force (NTF) against Covid-19 last month.
