BARMM launches ‘PinasLakas’ with government employees
The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Ministry of Health launched its coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) booster shots campaign on Thursday, with regional government employees receiving the first doses.
Dr. Muhammad Candao, the medical specialist for the MOH’s health regulation division, stated that regional employees can obtain the booster shots until August 26 by visiting their office within the BARMM compound.
“Our efforts to combat Covid-19 infections are ongoing. “Even if we have the first and second doses of vaccines, we still need booster shots,” Candao said of their campaign in support of the Department of Health’s “PinasLakas” initiative (DOH).
Sharing his personal experience with reporters, Candao stated that booster shots provide adequate levels of virus protection.
“Despite my previous exposure to virus carriers in the hospital, I did not experience symptoms after receiving two booster shots,” he said.
With the launch of PinaLakas, Candao stated that MOH-BARMM would continue to administer vaccines to anyone, regardless of whether they are BARMM employees.
“We will accept anyone; while we may have a target population in mind, we will administer booster shots to anyone who requests them.” This is not exclusive; we want more individuals to receive the vaccinations,” he said.
As of August 15, the MOH has vaccinated 1,622,158 individuals or 53.94 percent of its target population of 3,4 million.
Additionally, the number of active cases in the region continues to decrease, with 46 cases recorded in Cotabato City, 24 in Maguindanao, 13 in Lanao del Sur, and Marawi City, 10 in Tawi-Tawi, 4 in Basilan and Lamitan City, and none in Sulu.
