Pagudpud invites surfers to a national surfing competition.
Ilocos Norte on Thursday invited surfers to ride the waves in Pagudpud and participate in a national surfing competition from September 1 to 5, 2022.
Faivo Bartolome, the sports consultant for the provincial government of Ilocos Norte, announced on Thursday that the province has partnered with the Pagudpud municipality and the Ikani Surf Resort in Barangay Balaoi to host the five-day surfing competition dubbed “surfIN: INtayon Ilocos Norte.”
Bartolome stated that the results would be included in the national ranking.
Participants can register by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by contacting the Pagudpud municipality or Ikani Surf Resort.
Pagudpud, which is located more than 500 kilometers from Metro Manila and is renowned for its crystal-clear waters and cool breeze, is a popular destination for surfers, especially during this time of year when intermediate and expert-level surfers can ride waves measuring two to ten feet in height.
The majority of Pagudpud’s surfing spots are situated near the renowned Blue Lagoon in Barangay Balaoi and at Saud Beach, which is also regarded as one of the world’s finest beaches.
Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Joseph Manotoc and the Department of Tourism have begun promoting Pagudpud as an alternative surfing destination to San Juan in La Union as part of the province’s tourism recovery plans.
In October, Pagudpud will also host an international kiteboarding competition to attract more tourists interested in world-class surfing.
