DICT improves connectivity between Caraga’s two universities and local government

The Department of Information and Communications Technology in the Caraga Region (DICT-13) has announced that two university campuses in Surigao del Sur, as well as the Tabuan Market and City Hall, now offer free WiFi.

The DICT-13 announced on Thursday that the North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) Tandag main campus in Tandag City and the NEMSU Bislig City campus in Surigao del Sur now offer free internet access.

According to the report, the free WiFi connectivity at the two NEMSU campuses in Surigao del Sur is intended to expand educational opportunities for students and faculty.

Internet access is provided as part of the agency’s Free Wi-Fi for All Program.

“The free Wi-Fi at Butuan’s Tabuan Market and City Hall will enhance economic and social opportunities and bridge the digital divide,” stated the DICT-13.

The agency added, “These four newly integrated sites in Caraga Region will contribute significantly to accelerating the Philippine government’s efforts to improve Internet accessibility for Filipinos.”

As the agency’s free WiFi program continues, more locations in various cities and municipalities in the region will soon have free Internet access, according to the statement.
