PSA to register 46K inhabitants of Zambo City without birth certificates
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has started a campaign to help citizens who aren’t registered obtain birth certificates from the organization.
Personnel from PSA visit the barangays as part of the PhilSys Birth Registration Assistance Project to assist residents who are not registered.
There are 46,000 residents in this area who do not have birth certificates because they have not registered with the regional civil registrar’s office, according to Roxan Kastine Lumapas, a PSA registration officer, who stated this on Friday.
Lumapas observed that the vast distance between the unregistered people’s homes and the neighborhood civil registrar’s office was the primary cause of their failure to register.
The goal of the initiative, according to Lumapas, is to make sure that all Filipino births are recorded in the local civil registry and that their enrollment is in the PhilSys National Identification System.
A birth certificate, according to her, is a crucial document because it confirms a person’s legal identity and is needed for several official transactions, particularly when applying for a national identification card.
