Another weather event is anticipated before the end of August: PAGASA

A weather forecaster said on Thursday that before the end of the month, another weather disturbance could form and impact the nation.

According to Benison Estareja of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, “There is no low-pressure area inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility but the eastern part of the country may experience rains due to cloud clusters, and we are not discounting the possibility of another tropical cyclone before the end of the month” (PAGASA).

He stated that the western region of northern and central Luzon is currently being affected by the weakening southwest monsoon (habagat).

According to Estareja’s prognosis for Thursday, the day will be mostly sunny, especially in places that had rain because of Severe Tropical Storm Florita.

There will still be localized thunderstorm-related rain showers, he added.

There will be a lot of warm, humid weather, but there is a good risk of thunderstorms all over Luzon.

Over the western part of Luzon, moderate to high winds and moderate to rough waves are predicted.

The northern and western seaboards of northern Luzon, as well as the western shoreline of central Luzon, will all encounter moderate to rough seas (Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales and Bataan).

PAGASA warns against moderate to rough seas for fishing boats and other small seacrafts.

It was said elsewhere that there would be light to moderate winds and modest to moderate seas.
