Infra damage from “Florita” exceeds P571 million: NDRRMC
Severe Tropical Storm Florita’s toll on the nation’s infrastructure has reached PHP571.1 million.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) updated Tuesday and stated that the funds cover PHP546.7 million in the Ilocos Region and PHP24.4 million in the Cagayan Valley.
Ilocos Region agriculture loss was pegged at PHP13.03 million, while Calabarzon irrigation system damage was pegged at PHP10.85 million.
In Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and the Cordillera Administrative Region, 95 damaged homes were reported (CAR).
Approximately 81 of these homes were deemed “mostly damaged,” and 14 were deemed “completely ruined.”
32,351 affected families, or 131,235 people living in 515 barangays (villages), have been identified in the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, National Capital Region, and CAR.
Only 294 families, or 1,013 people, are receiving assistance from these at the 21 evacuation centers; the others have either gone home or sought shelter with friends and family.
Two deaths have been officially reported, one each in the CAR and Ilocos Region. In the Cagayan Valley, three injuries have been recorded.
The reports of one death and one injury in Bicol are still being verified.
