Covid-19 daily average cases decreased by 19%

The Department of Health (DOH) said on Monday that the daily average of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases decreased by 19% during the period of August 22 to 28.

From 3,412 per day, which was the average from August 15 to August 21, the number dropped to 2,752 per day over the past week.

According to the most recent case bulletin, 316 confirmed fatalities out of 19,262 new cases.

The DOH reported 94 more deaths between August 15 and August 28.

The number of severe and critical infections decreased from 811 cases the previous week to 807 cases within the same time period due to the addition of 110 cases.

Only 635 of the 2,551 intensive care unit (ICU) beds are being used, or only 24.9 percent, whereas 28,1 percent, or 5,986 of the 21,287 non-ICU beds, are being used.

Approximately 72,476,610 people, or 92.80% of the country’s target population (78,100,578), have received the Covid-19 vaccination as of this writing, including 78.1% of the 8,721,357 seniors.

Out of the population that had received their first vaccinations, 17,843,348 had received booster doses as of August 28.
