5.9K additional Bicol students would receive P18.2M in financial aid.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) provided additional educational, financial aid to 5,871 students in the Bicol Region over the weekend.
The organization said in a statement on Tuesday that during the second distribution last Saturday, monetary assistance of about PHP18.2 million was given out as part of the organization’s Assistance for Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
Approximately 5,900 students got PHP18.2 million in financial aid from the DSWD at the first disbursement on August 20.
DSWD-Bicol gave PHP3.3 million to 1,009 students in the province of Albay, PHP3.8 million to 1,169 in Sorsogon, PHP1.1 million to 414 in Masbate, PHP1.5 million to 452 in Catanduanes, PHP4.5 million to 1,591 in Camarines Sur, and PHP3.7 million to 1,236 in Camarines Norte.
Each elementary school student received PHP1,000; junior high students received PHP2,000; senior high students received PHP3,000; and college/vocational students received PHP4,000.
To allow for a review of every name on the list and the removal of any potential duplications, the DSWD-Bicol temporarily paused last week the acceptance of walk-in and email applications for educational aid.
People who submitted applications were instructed by the DSWD to “wait for the announcement that would be made on the DSWD Facebook page.”
