Iligan is looking for investors to upgrade its DRRM projects.
In order to forward the local government’s projects on Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) and other infrastructures, Iligan City Mayor Frederick Siao claimed he had already identified possible partners and investors.
A DRRM learning center, among other “areas of partnership,” were discussed during Siao’s meeting with MECO representatives, according to a statement he released on Tuesday.
He stated, “It’s like a museum where we can learn how to deal with earthquakes and flash floods, and kids can learn from it, too.
The mayor emphasized that should the city welcome potential investments, responding to disasters is crucial.
However, Siao stated that the city should be ready in terms of infrastructure before investors could settle, which is why meeting with MECO was a good start.
He claimed that if more investors brought their industries to Iligan City, the city could supply adequate labor from the students and professionals that could be tapped.
The annual World Cafรฉ of Opportunities was conducted in Iligan City by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Lanao del Norte provincial office during the commemoration of National Technical-Vocational Day as part of its 28th-anniversary celebration last week.
The event’s focal points, according to Noralaine Rasul, Provincial Director of TESDA Lanao del Norte, were the enrollment in technical-vocational scholarships and the upgrading of skills.
“It is a beginning for job seekers who desire to work in businesses or sectors. Additionally, it enables our job searchers abroad to match their skills with open positions, according to her.
