Following the suspension of NCAP, Manila hired additional traffic enforcers.

After the Supreme Court granted a temporary restraining order (TRO) on the execution of the No Contact Apprehension Policy, the city administration of Manila is putting additional traffic enforcers on the road to make sure traffic rules are followed (NCAP).

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan emphasized the advantages of NCAP for city residents and drivers in a statement released on Wednesday.

She emphasized that the order was respected by the municipal government, and she guaranteed that the city would follow it.

“Although we believe that NCAP has greatly improved the flow of traffic and maintained order in our city, the city government will abide by the Supreme Court’s directives and is prepared to put an end to the NCAP in Manila,” she said.

She said that according to data, there were fewer traffic infractions and that the NCAP had instilled discipline in drivers to reduce traffic jams in the city.

The number of fatal and non-fatal injuries caused by traffic accidents decreased by 47% in 2021 after NCAP was implemented in the city, according to data from the Metro Manila Development Authority published in its Metro Manila Reporting and Analysis System 2021 Annual Report on road safety, which was previously cited by the city government.

The documented number of traffic accidents in the city decreased by 62 percent, according to data from the Manila Police District.

Based on the daily average recorded by each traffic camera in the city, Lacuna-Pangan continued, the number of recorded traffic offenses also decreased by 90%.

According to the data, NCAP maintains traffic moving more quickly and smoothly while also ensuring the safety of drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians on city streets.

She declared that while adhering to the TRO, the local government would take action to benefit all parties.

The Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau would continue to strictly enforce traffic laws to ensure order, discipline, and safety along the roadways, she said, regardless of the NCAP’s suspension.
