During his two-nation tours, Marcos appoints Vice President Sara as OIC.
Vice President Sara Duterte has been appointed officer-in-charge (OIC) by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. while he is gone for his state visits to Indonesia and Singapore from September 4 to 7.
Victor, executive secretary “Duterte was appointed OIC by Vic” Rodriguez to “take charge of the day-to-day activities in the Office of the President,” according to Special Order No. 75.
Duterte was also responsible for ” supervising the executive department’s general administration” by the order.”
When the president is away from the Philippines from September 4–7, 2022, Duterte may “act for and on behalf of the President, save on subjects where the Constitution requires the President to act in person.”
Duterte must receive assistance from all government departments, agencies, and other entities in her OIC duties.
A further clause in the order specifies that “any activities of the Vice President for and on behalf of the President pursuant to this Order shall be deemed acts of the President unless the President shall disapprove or reprobate such acts.”
At the invitation of Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Marcos will visit that country from September 4 to September 6.
At the invitation of Singaporean President Halimah Yacob, he will also be in Singapore from September 6 to 7.
Marcos stated in his pre-departure speech that both state visits are intended to maximize the potential of the Philippines’ thriving trade and investment links.
He said that meetings, business forums, and briefings on the economy would also be organized to increase investments and export customers and hasten the nation’s post-pandemic growth.
Marcos said he would also schedule meetings with Filipinos in Singapore and Indonesia.
During Marcos’ state trips, the Philippines is anticipated to sign several agreements with Singapore and Indonesia.
