Initial P40 million is set aside by Zambo Solon to develop a hospital.

Khymer Adan Olaso, a representative for the first district, has set aside an initial PHP40 million from his congressional money for 2023 to construct a new public hospital in his constituency.

Olaso stated on Saturday that building a new public hospital in his neighborhood is essential due to the area’s rapid population growth.

On the west side of this city, the first congressional district includes 37 barangays.

According to Olaso, the new hospital would complement the 51-bed Labuan Public Hospital, which serves patients from remote communities in Zamboanga del Norte’s first district and neighboring towns of Sibuco and Sirawai.

He said that the government-owned Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC), which is in Barangay Sta. Catalina, is too far away from the west coast region’s patients.

According to Olaso in a statement, “The ZCMC is usually full because it caters to patients not just from this city but also from other places of the region.”

The Zamboanga Peninsula and the provinces of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, which are already a part of Muslim Mindanao’s Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, use the ZCMC as their primary medical facility (BARMM).

The new hospital, according to Olaso, will be built in Barangay Ayala, 16.5 kilometers from City Hall.

The distance between City Hall and Barangay Labuan, home to Labuan Public Hospital, is 36 kilometers.

Once it is operational, Olaso predicted that the hospital in Ayala will greatly assist those coming from the densely populated barangays of Cawit, Maasin, Recodo, and Sinubong.

We desperately need a second hospital on the west coast, Olaso declared.

He has already solicited assistance from some of his senatorial pals in building the hospital, with some of them promising to provide a hand.
