Concepcion accepts the use of face masks outdoors voluntarily.

Joey Concepcion, the founder of Go Negosyo and the lead for jobs on the Private Sector Advisory Council, has praised Executive Order (EO) No. 3, which now permits the non-mandatory use of face masks outdoors.

Concepcion said in a statement on Monday, “We are going to a new phase, one where Filipinos can manage their own risks, and where our strategy now switches to ensuring we have mitigation mechanisms in place.

Concepcion stated last week that he supported the local government unit of Cebu’s decision to end the requirement for face masks to be worn outdoors, arguing the risk of contracting the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) is lower in well-ventilated settings than it is indoors.

“I believe now is the appropriate time to acknowledge that Covid-19 will likely be around for a while. Therefore, we cannot constantly use face masks outside, he continued.

Concepcion advised the government to now concentrate on acquiring antiviral medications.

“We need to ensure we have a sufficient supply of antiviral medications, including Paxlovid, which is now unavailable in the nation. As individuals begin to move about outside without masks, this will become increasingly important, he continued.

He emphasized that after experiencing a pandemic for more than two years, Filipinos are now aware of how to prevent getting Covid-19.

Concepcion urged Filipinos to wear face masks indoors, especially around old people, very young children, and people with preexisting conditions, and only to take them off outdoors when entering or leaving a building or when entering or leaving a healthcare facility.
