A new BI director has been directed to end corruption.
Jesus Crispin Remulla, the secretary of justice, has ordered Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco to combat corruption and emphasized the significance of the organization in giving visitors a positive first impression.
According to Mico Clavano, a spokesperson for the DOJ, Remulla, and Tansingco first spoke on Thursday.
Clavano told reporters that Remulla gave Tansingco the directive to “always preserve the sovereignty, that is, to prioritize safeguarding the credibility and forward-looking attitude of the new administration — free from any controversy and issues.”
In addition, the BI should “establish a new legacy founded on effective and efficient service,” according to the DOJ leader.
“When entering the country, the Bureau of Immigration is the first government agency to be contacted; the Secretary reminded Commissioner Tansingco. Consequently, it’s crucial to continually put your best foot forward, “said Clavano.
Remulla gave the BI the responsibility of “putting an end to wicked practices that have plagued the agency with many issues and scandals” and “guaranteed support for all efforts to eliminate corruption and red tape.”
The BI has consistently been linked to scandals, including exploiting incoming and departing tourists with questionable documents in exchange for money.
