Long-lasting peace will undoubtedly result from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s backing of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The founding member of the Moro National Liberation Front, Nur Misuari, shook hands with BARMM Chief Minister and Moro Islamic Liberation Front Chairperson Murad Ebrahim at the new Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTAFriday )’s inauguration, according to Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri.

Zubiri expressed her satisfaction with President Bongbong Marcos’ support and commitment in a social media post, writing, “Bilang (As a) Mindanaoan at bilang (and as the) principal sponsor and author of the Bangsamoro Organic Law, masaya po ako sa pagbibigay ni (I am happy with) President Bongbong Marcos’ support and commitment sa patuloy na pagpapa

“This is an indication that the efforts to bring about peace and harmony in Mindanao have been successful,” the speaker said. I sincerely hope that we will eventually bring about a just and enduring peace for our people with the help of the government and, of course, the Senate and the House,” he continued.

On Thursday, Marcos oversaw the inauguration of the new Bangsamoro Transitional Authority (BTA), which will hold office for three years before the first Bangsamoro elections in 2025.

Marcos mentioned in his speech the Department of Budget and Management’s anticipated PHP74.4 billion allocation for the region in the 2023 national budget to reassure the people of BARMM of the national government’s ongoing support.

We offer socio-economic solutions that create a culture of peace in severely conflict-affected and vulnerable areas through the Pamana program. From 2017 to 2022, the president declared that the government had set aside more than PHP19 billion for this project, and we will see to it that it is completed, notwithstanding any delays brought on by the Covid-19 outbreak.

In addition to peace talks, PAyapa at MAsaganang PamayaNAn (Pamana) focuses on regional development issues in conflict-affected and vulnerable areas. Pamana is founded on the idea that peace can be achieved by forming strategic alliances with national organizations to encourage a more convergent delivery of goods and services.

Meetings for planning and assessment are held nationwide under the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity.

“Due to this, we remain unwavering in supporting the peace process in the southern Philippines. Therefore, we advocate for socioeconomic growth and actions that foster peace and development in regions impacted by decades of conflict, Marcos continued.

The Organic Law for the BARMM, also known as Republic Act No. 11054, was approved by President Rodrigo Duterte on July 26, 2018.

The BARMM, which would have more fiscal autonomy, a regional administration, a parliament, and a legal system, took the place of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao under the law.

With Cotabato City serving as its regional hub, BARMM includes the provinces of Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur on Mindanao’s main island, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, as well as the cities of Marawi and Lamitan.
