Farmers in Itbayat benefit greatly as DA transports garlic production to NCR.

The Itbayat Garlic Producers Association from Batanes transported 600 kg of garlic to the DA Kadiwa Center in Quezon City on September 14 with the help of the Department of Agriculture (DA) and its Kadiwa vehicle.

The Itbayat farmers received assistance from the DA-Regional Field Office (RFO) in Cagayan Valley in moving their goods from Pangasinan’s Sual Port to Metro Manila.

The institutional buyers picked up the PHP78,000 worth of garlic they had ordered from the DA-Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service the following day (AMAS).

Various farmer cooperatives and groups received assistance from the DA-AMAS for supplying 691.95 kg of garlic worth PHP72,786 from February to July 2022.

A PHP500,000 Enhanced Kadiwa Financial Grant (trading/working capital) will be given to the Itbayat Garlic Producers Association of Itbayat, Batanes, in the fourth quarter of 2021.

DA-AMAS provides market information, market linkage, product marketing, agribusiness promotion, and agribusiness development services to interested producers’ groups, buyers, and partners.

Garlic farmers will continue to receive assistance from DA through its various agribusiness programs.

By phone at (632) 8920.2216, 8920.4072-73, 8920.4077, and 8926.8203, or by email at amas@da.gov.ph, you can contact the DA-AMAS.
