Australia and the Philippines are considering ways to fortify their cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

Deputy Admiral Rommel Anthony Reyes, acting vice chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and Australia’s ambassador for counterterrorism Roger Noble met on September 28 at Camp Aguinaldo, according to Col. Jorry Baclor, head of the AFP public affairs office.

He added Thursday: “The two leaders also addressed collaboration in terms of best practice sharing, intelligence exchange, and counter-terrorism training to prepare for future difficulties, particularly the reappearance of threats with the normalization of international travel.”

Noble stated during the discussion that his government could learn from some of the best strategies used by the Philippines to combat homegrown terrorism.

“Vice Admiral Reyes remarked that the assistance of the people and the government allowed the Armed Forces to successfully address this issue. To combat local terrorism and communist insurrection, legislation was passed, “explained Baclor.

Reyes, according to Baclor, emphasized the significance of identifying organizations that sponsor terrorists, a task in which the international community is crucial.

Both Noble and Reyes reaffirmed their nations’ dedication to cooperating in counterterrorism and disaster relief efforts to benefit both nations.
