Nearly 92 million official ballots will be printed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and put “into full swing” on Monday for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections on December 5. (BSKE).

Acting Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco invited participants to the exercise on Monday at 10 a.m. at the National Printing Office in Quezon City in an alert on Saturday.

After the Sept. 29 soft launch printing, other accountability forms will also be printed, according to Laudiangco.

“Armies of citizens and other interested parties are invited to observe the activity. The media is welcome to cover,” he stated.

Laudiangco said they hope to print 3 million ballots daily, or a million on three machines.

Within 30 days, the full printing process is intended to be finished.

George Garcia, the chair of the Comelec, inserted the ballot’s special security feature on Thursday.

This is in addition to the paper’s security mechanisms and the climbing serial number, according to Laudiangco.

Measures to move the BSKE to December 4, 2023, have been passed by the Senate and the House of Representatives.

As they wait for the authorizing statute, which would halt the polls and their preparations, including printing the ballots, Garcia stated that the upcoming week would be key in their preparations.

In an earlier interview, he claimed that aside from the printing, the Comelec en banc had authorized the procurement office to move forward with both the notice of awards and the supply of paraphernalia until a law was passed.
