The housing initiative of PBBM is launched in Visayas.

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) on September 30 began construction on three housing sites in the cities of Bacolod, Roxas, and Iloilo, barely weeks after the signing of memorandums of understanding (MOU).

The groundbreaking ceremonies heralded the implementation of the “Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program: Zero ISF (informal settler family) by 2028” in the Visayas Region by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

This, according to DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar, shows the Marcos administration’s steadfast dedication to assisting in the realization of every Filipino family’s desire to own a home, especially the ISFs and low-income earners.

“This is evidence of President Bongbong Marcos’ sincerity to lift our countrymen out of poverty through our housing program for the Pilipino Program: Zero ISF 2028,” Acuzar said in a news release on Sunday. “Patunay din po ito sa sinseridad ng ating mahal na Pangulong Bongbong Marcos sa kanyang pagnanais na maiahon ang ating

“Under this program, the President ordered the construction of one million housing units every year in the next six years of his administration β€” that’s to solve” the housing backlog of 6.5 million units, he continued.

Acuzar participated in the groundbreaking ceremony at the project site in Barangay Vista Alegre on Friday morning alongside other DHSUD and local government representatives, including Bacolod City Mayor Albee Benitez. The project particularly benefits ISFs who reside near risk zones.

An MOU was also inked for a potential housing project with Victorias City Mayor Javi Benitez.

Following the groundbreaking, Team DHSUD traveled to Roxas City to participate in another groundbreaking ceremony with Mayor Ronnie Dadivas and other LGU representatives at Barangay 7.

Acuzar traveled to Iloilo City for the groundbreaking in Uswag Village, San Isidro in Jaro, with Mayor Jerry Trenas and high-ranking DHSUD officials in the afternoon.

“By constructing one million homes annually over the next six years, we want to reduce the nation’s estimated 6.5 million housing backlog. We are already making substantial progress toward making this happen, so while it won’t be simple, it is achievable,” Acuzar added.

These groundbreaking ceremonies, he continued, “are obvious indications that we are moving in the right direction.”

Jose Ramon Aliling, a recently appointed DHSUD Undersecretary, oversaw the three projects with assistance from Regional Office 6, under the direction of OIC-Director Eva Maria Marfil. In the first week of September, the DHSUD signed MOUs with the aforementioned LGUs.

Julius Ceasar Herrera, the mayor of Calape, Bohol, welcomed Team DHSUD, and they had a brief meeting to discuss potential housing developments in the area.

The President’s directive is difficult, but it is possible as long as we cooperate. The national government will support one another through DHSUD, local government, the private sector, and, of course, the average person.
