There were fewer than 30K new viral cases for the second day in a row, and the arrival test was relaxed.

The country lowered the test requirement for arrivals amid a diminishing virus surge, and on Saturday, the number of new Covid-19 cases in South Korea remained below 30,000 for the second straight day.

According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), the nation reported 26,960 new Covid-19 infections, including 301 from abroad, increasing the overall caseload to 24,796,014.

The day total is the lowest for a Saturday in the last 12 weeks and is down 1,537 from the day before.

Since mid-August, when it peaked at more than 180,000 instances, the most recent virus wave, caused by the transmission of a highly contagious omicron strain, has declined.

The health officials have relaxed antivirus measures as the virus wave has abated to facilitate people’s return to normalcy better.

Beginning on Saturday, the nation will no longer need entering tourists to undergo Covid-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing on the day of their arrival. This was the final antiviral limitation.

Additionally, as of October 4th, the government will permit in-person visits at nursing homes, elder care hospitals, and other relevant facilities.

Since July, in-person visits to these facilities have been prohibited from reducing the danger of widespread infections among high-risk groups.

The nation reported 39 Covid-19 fatalities on Saturday, bringing the total to 28,445.

Three hundred fifty-six people were seriously ill, an increase of 4 from the day before.

Seoul recorded 5,575 new infections of the 26,659 locally transmitted cases, while Gyeonggi Province, which surrounds the city, added 7,782.

A port city called Incheon, located just west of Seoul discovered 1,504 additional cases.
