The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) distributed post-harvest facilities to corn farmers on Tuesday as part of the Sustainable Livelihood Support Program (SLSP) – Climate-Resilient Farm Productivity Support Program (CRFPSP).

The equipment included a combination 3-in-1 hammer mill, four units of foldable dryers, and a package of capacity-building training provided to the Malapag Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARB) Farmers Association, according to Charish Paa, the province agrarian reform program officer (FA).

The total amount of the help is PHP450,000, she stated.

Paa stated during the transition program that the Malapag ARB FA was given the project to boost the production of staple foods in favor of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s order to increase corn and rice output in the nation to stabilize food prices.

She added that in addition to providing the facilities, the DAR would continue to provide farmers and their groups with financial tools and training.

The president of the corn farmer group, Leonilio Romano, also thanked the DAR for its ongoing support services on their behalf.

To better serve the requirements of its members and create additional revenue, Romano remarked, “We would want to thank DAR for consistently developing our association by giving interventions like this CRFPSP project.”

According to him, the combined 3-in-1 hammer mill would allow them to produce and market hammered corn, cracked corn, corn bran, milled rice, and rice bran as supplements to their agri-supply business.
