In anticipation of Tropical Depression Maymay, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reactivated its quick response teams on Tuesday and placed them on alert.

Director of DPWH Region 3 Roseller Tolentino claimed that he warned all district engineering offices in Central Luzon and gave instructions for prepositioning personnel and resources to handle any crises that the tropical depression might bring.

In anticipation of the potential onslaught of Maymay, which is predicted to make landfall on Wednesday afternoon or evening near the province or in the northern portion of Quezon, Tolentino stated that the DPWH-Aurora District Engineering Office has already prepositioned their staff and equipment.

Tolentino stated in a social media post, “We have been monitoring the weather predictions about tropical depression Maymay and have since contacted our district engineers and their maintenance crews to prepare for any scenario.”

According to him, prepared emergency teams with the necessary tools and personnel are currently on standby.

Tolentino claimed that no untoward incidents were reported in any of the region’s key and crucial areas, including the national roadways and bridges.

He urged everyone to practice safety and security.

The provinces of Aurora and Nueva Ecija are currently on Signal No. 1 due to Maymay as of 11 a.m.
