To expand its support programs, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) will fill open jobs, including coterminous ones.

On Tuesday, Secretary Conrado Estrella III declared that DAR was preparing to fill open positions.

“As of this writing, 312 open coterminous positions are being closed before being made available for employment. As described by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., successful applicants will be sent to rural areas where they are most needed to share their knowledge of increasing agricultural productivity once the position is filled, according to Estrella.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DAR) has asked the Department of Budget and Management to create 96 Agrarian Reform Program Officers I (ARPO I) positions and upgrade 344 Agrarian Reform Program Technologists (ARPT) positions to ARPO I.

He claimed that DAR would be better prepared to help ARBs and accelerate the program launch for buying and distributing land by approving the positions.

According to Estrella, the change, which would upgrade ARPTs into ARPOs 1, is expected to strengthen the agency’s development facilitators and inspire them to give their all in assisting the ARBs in achieving higher agricultural output.

To better serve the needs of ARBs and beneficiary organizations for agrarian reform, DAR is stepping up its rural development campaign and expanding its support services team and development facilitators.

Marcos had promised to take all steps necessary to turn the Philippines into a major center for agricultural resources, highlighting the significance of stepping up efforts to advance the industry.

“We have only started working to enhance our agriculture sector and the condition of our farmers and fishermen. We must keep creating new possibilities for them to increase their well-being. Right now, we are simply catching up. “Marcos made this statement on October 6 at the Agrilink/Foodlink/Aqualink 2022 event hosted at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

According to Estrella, farmers who would benefit from the much-needed support services would be able to raise their yields, boost their income, and promote rural development.

According to him, only roughly 100,000 hectares of “workable” private agricultural land are available for distribution in the areas under its jurisdiction.

According to Estrella, “workable private farmlands” lack legal obstacles and owners have already shown their desire to cooperate with the DAR to sell or otherwise redistribute their land to farmers who lack land.

According to DAR data, there are still around 500 000 hectares available for distribution across the country.

However, 100 thousand hectares are managed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform, the regional executive department under the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. In comparison, 300 thousand hectares are classified as problematic and the subject of various court proceedings.
