Low-cost airlines support calls to revoke One Health Pass.

Cheap airlines The One Health Pass (OHP) is being criticized, and AirAsia Philippines and Cebu Pacific (CEB) say that alternatives might be examined.

The Philippine News Agency was told by AirAsia spokesperson Steve Dailisan that “as we march towards a robust air travel rebound, our passengers deserve a more convenient, reliable, and hassle-free customer journey without sacrificing the safety net in our day-to-day operations.”

On Monday, Senator Nancy Binay demanded that the OHP be lifted, arguing that it has grown inconvenient and unworkable for many.

According to Binay, the requirement for passengers traveling to the Philippines to register with the OHP has been a hassle for many returning Filipinos and expatriates because it only prolongs the screening process even if the traveler is already quarantine-cleared and fully immunized with boosters.

The senator claimed that Filipino employees abroad have complained that lengthy waits at the nation’s airports have resulted from confirming the OHP.

The CEB’s Carmina Romero also noted this. “Normally, there is a line of passengers at the check-in desks at our international destinations unaware of the OHP. I’m sure an email concerning (OHP registration) was sent to them, but some travelers ignore alerts, she said.

Romero pointed out that many people, particularly foreign travelers, find it difficult to register for OHP.

“It is difficult for them to check the boxes for detailed information about their destination in the Philippines, such as which barrio and which district of the National Capital Region. Typically, a foreign national finds it challenging to respond to that,” she said.

She claimed that a foreigner could be required to complete an arrival card before landing in the absence of the OHP. On the other hand, returning Filipinos must demonstrate that they have received Covid-19 booster shots or full vaccinations.

Romero remarked, “Perhaps we ought to start taking these into account too.

A single electronic arrival card system that is user-friendly and accessible for incoming passengers is one project that Dailisan claimed AirAsia supports that will facilitate seamless travel among its guests.
