DFA plans to provide 800,000 to 1.1 million passport slots by December.
Until December 2022, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has added new appointment times for passport applications.
Enrique Manalo, the secretary of foreign affairs, stated on Wednesday that the DFA’s efforts to enhance present consular services resulted in the creation of at least 803,000 positions.
Additionally, he noted the DFA intends to create another 300,000 spots before the year is out.
Before more than 800,000 appointment slots were available, Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs Henry Bensurto Jr. stated that slots were only valid for two weeks.
“To enable us to offer the slots until December, I believe it was crucial to extend, streamline, and otherwise tweak the procedure and the technology itself. In essence, it is how we were able to achieve it “He informed the press.
The DFA also displayed on Wednesday its renovated Asean facilities, featuring new escalators and elevators, in addition to reducing the passport backlog.
