After being awarded the richest city in the nation for the second year by the Commission on Audit (COA), Quezon City gave good governance credit.

The distinction, according to Mayor Joy Belmonte, demonstrated the success of the city’s efforts, particularly regarding fiscal changes.

“The diligent men and women in the city government are to thank for this. We cannot complete this task without them, she declared in a statement.

Despite a PHP1 billion decline from its declared assets in 2020, QC still held the title of the wealthiest city in the nation in 2021, with a total worth of PHP451 billion.

Belmonte added, “This distinction will serve as our source of motivation and strength to continue working for the welfare of QCitizens and the betterment of our community.”

The City of Manila came third with PHP65.2 billion, followed by Makati City with PHP238.5 billion.

Pasig City has PHP51.17 billion, Taguig City PHP36.18 billion, Cebu PHP33.34 billion, Mandaue PHP33.01 billion, Mandaluyong PHP31.44 billion, Davao PHP26.55 billion, and Caloocan PHP23.38 billion are other local government entities included in COA’s 215-page Annual Financial Report for 2021.

Cebu had PHP215.27 billion in wealth last year, followed by PHP30.64 billion-spending Rizal, PHP29.70 billion-spending Batangas, PHP23.21 billion spending Davao de Oro, PHP23.45 billion spending Bukidnon, PHP19.45 billion spending Negros Occidental, PHP18.02 billion-spending Negros Sur, PHP17.91 billion-spending Ilocos Sur, PHP17.39.
