LOCATION: Just North of Mangochi, on the palm fringed southern shore of lake Malawi, an extraordinary lakeside paradise resort - Club Makokola - awaits you.
ACCOMMODATION: The 40 standard rooms offer a mixture of different styles. 28 overlook the lake and are made up by charming thatched cottages each with private facilities. 12 rooms are located in an A frame building next to the conference center. 6 of these rooms are family rooms that can sleep 2 adults and a maximum of 4 children.. Standard bedroom. We now have 6 beautiful superior rooms, that are not suites just because they do not have their own lounge. All superior rooms are furnished in the same style as the suites and have large bathrooms with double vanity basin, bathtub and separate shower. All superior rooms have a private veranda with views of the lake. 5 of the 6 superior rooms are family rooms, conveniently situated next to the hotel pool area and bar/restaurant. All children rooms are completely separated and independent from the main bed rooms. The executive suite can sleep 4 guests in two separate rooms, each with their own bathroom and a communal lounge. The suite has its own mini bar and facilities for tea and coffee. The room has been furnished using all products of the Malawi craftsman, from the hand painted tiles of the bathrooms that come from Dedza, to the bed covers that are embroidered by the Makokola women's embroidery group. Each junior suite has a sleeping area and a lounge tastefully furnished in an all African style. The bathrooms are divided in three areas, one for the two vanity basins, one for the toilet and one for the shower and bath tub. The shower has a seat so that you can sit in it!!!! The bath tub is nice and comfortable and completely separate from the shower. Each suite has its own veranda with breath taking views over the lake. All the suites are set in a beautiful corner of the hotel's gardens, away from all the rest!!! All suites have their own mini-bar with tea coffee facilities. HOTEL FACILITIES & SERVICES: Club Makokola is spaciously laid out in well-tended gardens, but it is the beach that will draw your attention. The lodge has its own vast expanse of pale sand, dotted with low palms and thatched sunshades, under which lie sun loungers with padded cushions. A waiter will take your drinks order and deliver it to you on the beach. This is real decadence. Most rooms face the warm water of Lake Malawi, which looks like a sea but has no tide, nor salty water. It is perfect for such watersports as sailing and windsurfing. While diving and snorkelling are done at a stunning little offshore island, where tropical fish abound beneath the surface and fish eagles are ever present above it. The lodge has an enormous swimming pool 44 metres (143 foot) long and 16 metres ( 52 feet) wide. You can get some serious exercise in this pool! If that all seems too much, then just paddle up to the pool bar for some cool cocktails and ice cold beer. Club Makokola has the only landing strip in the area, and it is just a short stroll to the lodge. This facility makes your journey very manageable and hassle-free.
