MAP improves Morocco’s reputation abroad: Executive

On Tuesday, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, minister of youth, culture, and communication, stressed the Moroccan Press Agency’s (MAP) significant role in reporting all actions and activities of state institutions and enhancing the Kingdom’s international reputation.

At a hearing of the Committee on Education, Culture and Communication in the House of Representatives devoted to the assessment of issues involving youth, media, and culture in the Kingdom, Bensaid stated that “MAP plays a key role that must be strengthened.”

He continued by saying that the Agency’s strength is derived from its global network of more than 100 journalists who seek to promote Moroccan accomplishments and enhance the country’s standing abroad.

The Minister noted that a discussion about the future of MAP and the evolution it is going through is currently taking place and involves the Ministry, the Secretariat General of Government, and the agency itself, and praised the “personal” effort of the agency, its development, and its investment in new services and media without resorting to a request for an increase in the budget allotted to it by the State.

The members of the Parliamentary Committee, for their part, have praised MAP’s function as well as the Agency’s significant efforts to increase the Kingdom’s influence on the international media, cultural, and political levels during their interventions.

They also emphasized that the agency is a national media institution whose role it is to protect the Fatherland’s interests from adversaries abroad. They called for the support of this institution to ensure its growth as well as the promotion of the media industry in general.
