PBBM speaks with Senate and House leaders about the 2023 agenda
On Friday, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. met with Speaker of the House Martin Romualdez and Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri to go over the administration’s legislative priorities for 2023.
The meeting was documented in a photo issued by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), but no other information was given.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and the President of the Senate Juan Miguel Zubiri on January 27 to discuss the administration’s legislative agenda and plans for 2023, according to a statement from PCO Secretary Cheloy Garafil.
Marcos and representatives from the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO) met on Tuesday at Malacaan Palace in Manila to discuss the legislative agenda and accomplishments of the administration, updates on bills covered by presidential certifications or directives, and other PLLO-related issues.
In order to support his plans for economic development, Marcos expressed pleasure with the advancement of the priority bills within his administration’s control and hoped Congress would secure their swift passage.
According to the PLLO report, as of January 18, half of the 20 priority legislative proposals stated in Marcos’ first State of the Nation Address have already been approved by the House of Representatives and sent to the Senate.
The remaining 10 priority measures, according to Garafil, are still in committee stages in Congress, and additional proposals that were enacted by the House of Representatives and were prioritized by the Legislative Executive Development Advisory Council are still pending in the Senate.
The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) committed on Tuesday to pursue the legislative agenda aggressively while collaborating closely with Congress.
The present administration’s legislative reform plan, according to DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, aims to increase “transparency, efficiency, and responsiveness” in public service.
