Arsenio Balisacan, the secretary of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), disputes assertions that…

Under RCEP, Solon promises that “no sector will be left behind.”
Senator Alan Peter Cayetano told the agriculture and employment sectors that they will not be left behind once the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) will be implemented.
One of the ten senators named to the Senate Oversight Committee on RCEP was Cayetano.
The oversight committee, which will keep an eye on the RCEP’s implementation, will be chaired by Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda and include Senators Sonny Angara, Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva, Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel, Senators Imee Marcos, Cynthia Villar, Grace Poe, Mark Villar, Sherwin Gatchalian, and Jinggoy Estrada.
Our goal has always been for the entire country to develop, not just the urban areas, Cayetano remarked.
With the ongoing increase in the price of essential commodities and the low farm-gate prices, Cayetano identified the agricultural industry and the employment sector as two of the most vulnerable sectors in the nation today that require urgent attention.
Via his signature initiative Presyo, Trabaho, Kita/Kaayusan, he promised to keep assisting farmers in their efforts to purchase agricultural inputs and market their produce directly (PTK).
Additionally, Cayetano asked his coworkers and the executive department to make sure that safety nets were in place for industries that would be impacted by the implementation of the trade agreement.
I do honestly think that RCEP would be such a terrific vehicle for us, so I want that type of confidence from the executive department, he said.
