As part of the municipal government’s celebration of Rabies Awareness Month this March, Alaga.BCD, an online hotline for animal welfare concerns, was established on Friday.

The project, according to Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, will be carried out by the City Veterinary Office and a number of city advocates.

“Now is the ideal time to launch Alaga.BCD. This concept was formed as a result of our discussions with several animal protection organizations, he added in a statement.

The #IsugidKayMayor QR code and link can be used by pet owners and other concerned individuals to report issues and get support.

Animal abuse, irresponsible pet ownership, rabid canines, impounding of stray, aggressive, and unmanageable dogs or cats, and emergencies like accidents and sickness are among them.

Alaga.BCD can also be contacted with questions about adoption, rehoming, fostering, and rescue as well as requests for spaying and neutering, rabies vaccinations, and related services.

The city’s rabies vaccination campaign will be accompanied by an education campaign, and our numerous volunteer groups will be pleased to help, he added.

Community Animal Rescue Efforts Inc., Bacolod Animal Chance, and Hope Project PH, Bacolod Aspin Rescue Kennel, Inspyred, Fur Haven Sanctuary, and Animal Kindness are a few of the animal welfare organizations that collaborate with the municipal administration.

Prior to that, the local government collaborated with PAWSsion Project by giving the organization PHP500,000 in funding support for stray animal management and dog care at the Bacolod local Dog Pound.

At least 108 canines have been confiscated and are housed at the city pound on Alunan Avenue in Barangay 35.
