From May 1 to May 5, the 38 contestants for Miss Universe Philippines 2023 will visit tourist destinations in Eastern Visayas as part of the national costume competition.

Before the coronation night on May 13 at the SM Mall of Asia, they will arrive in the city on May 1 for several events.

According to Department of Tourism Regional Director Karina Rosa Tiopes in an interview on Friday, the costume competition’s awards ceremony will occur at Leyte Normal University on May 4.

All is set, according to Tiopes, who is in charge of the coordination meeting of all federal, state, and local governments. Venues have been prepared for all the events.

“This allows us to advertise other regional locations, showcase our culture, local crafts, and even the food we serve. This will benefit Eastern Visayas and our locals, according to Tiopes.

The Kalanggaman Island in Palompon, Leyte; the Sohoton Cave, Sa-ob Cave, Saint Michael the Archangel Church in Basey, Samar; the Caluwayan Palm Island Resort in Marabut, Samar; some locations in Tacloban City; the McArthur Park in Palo, Leyte; and the rice fields of Sta Fe, Leyte are among the locations chosen for the Miss Universe-PH costume competition.

After receiving favorable tourist feedback, being prepared for tourism, and being accessible, they were evaluated as promising destinations.

Despite the absence of any tourist attractions, Sta. Fe was chosen for the photo shoot for the national costume due of its enormous rice fields.

“The most crucial factor is that the optimal time for such activity is on the day of their photoshoot. The setting will be ideal and true to their subject, Tiopes continued.

The Miss Universe Philippines finalists’ visit to Basey and Marabut towns the following week, according to Samar tourism officer Marvin Piczon, will help the province’s tourism hotspots promote themselves more effectively.

Their journey to Samar the next week will assist individuals who haven’t heard of the province or visited our location to learn more about it, said Piczon.

Additionally, some regional specialties will be served to the candidates. Suman (glutenous rice cooked in sweetened coconut milk), tamalos (steamed slabs of pork belly wrapped in banana leaves with rice), and tahong (green mussels) are a few examples of the various forms of suman.

Through the efforts of the Tingog Partylist and House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, the Miss Universe Philippines organization brought the competition to Eastern Visayas.

The Miss Earth Philippines coronation night will be held in Borongan City the following year, and it will be held on Baybay Boulevard.
