The provincial government of Ilocos Norte has employed 94 interns to increase young employment.

According to Anne Marie Lizette Atuan, manager of the Public Employment Service Office, in an interview on Friday, they will begin receiving assignments to various departments of the legislature in June as part of the province’s “Work Readiness Program” for recent college graduates.

The six-month internship program, introduced in 2022, aids recent graduates in their preparation or job search.

“Interns shall receive a minimum salary of PHP400 per day,” declared Atuan.

Last year, the Provincial Library, the Information Technology Department, and the Communication and Media Office, among others, hired 23 of the first group of interns.

The top 10% of their graduating class, as determined by the schools, a four-year college degree with a certificate of excellent moral character, and active participation in community youth projects are the requirements for qualified interns.

A transcript of records, a diploma or certificate of graduation, a medical certificate with a Covid-19 vaccination compliance card, and other documents issued by the school and the village of residence are among the documentary criteria for internship applications.
