🌧️ MANILA – A significant portion of the country is set to experience rain showers as a low-pressure area (LPA) affects the weather on Thursday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

As of Thursday morning, the LPA was last located 650 kilometers east northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

Meteorologist Patrick Del Mundo of PAGASA stated that there is a possibility that this LPA could intensify into a tropical depression within the next 24 to 48 hours. However, there remains “high uncertainty” regarding its exact path as it approaches the Philippine Area of Responsibility, at which point it will be named Egay.

PAGASA has forecasted the LPA to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over various regions, including Visayas, Romblon, Sorsogon, Masbate, Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis provinces, Camiguin, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte, and Dinagat Islands. Residents in these areas should be cautious of possible flash floods or landslides, as moderate to heavy rains are expected.

For the rest of the country, isolated rain showers are anticipated, mainly due to localized thunderstorms and the influence of the LPA’s trough. PAGASA warns that severe thunderstorms may lead to isolated flooding incidents and landslides.

Regarding wind and sea conditions, light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas are expected across the entire archipelago.
