On February 7, Davao will begin administering the vaccine to children aged 5 to 11.
On February 7, the Vaccine Cluster Team (VCT) of the Davao City Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) Task Force will pilot the vaccination rollout for the pediatric group aged 5 to 11 years old.
The task force’s spokesman, Dr. Michelle Schlosser, said in a statement on Thursday that the hospitals were chosen as the site for the pilot rollout to ensure that medical treatment is easily available.
“If there are any bugs, we can fix them immediately soon.” “Once everything is in order, we’ll cascade it to our standard vaccine hubs,” she explained.
According to Schlosser, a separate lane for the youngest age groups is being considered to ensure that vaccines are not mixed up with those given to older age groups.
Schlosser stated that the vaccine dosage for 5- to 11-year-old children is 0.2ml, which is lower than the typical dosage of 0.3ml for other age groups in the population.
She also stated that a different type of syringe will be used, which is safer for the younger age range.
“We will provide a safe setting for the children in which they will not be threatened; otherwise, they will withdraw.” “To effectively roll out the immunization, the VCT will cooperate with Davao City’s public and private clinicians,” she added.
Sixta Solingan, a grandparent of an 11-year-old child, expressed delight at hearing that vaccines will be made available to the younger generation in an interview.
Solingan, though, expressed some hesitancy, saying she will wait for others to receive their immunizations before vaccinating her grandson.
“I’m terrified, to be honest. But if everything goes well for others, I’ll send her to the vaccination center,” she remarked in her own tongue.
