MANILA, Philippines — In Zamboanga City, public acceptability of the Covid-19 pediatric immunization of children aged 5 to 11 years old is high, according to Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. of the National Task Force (NTF) against Covid-19.

Galvez claims that the city’s new mall, which also acts as an economic and educational hub for the provinces of Basilan and Tawi-Tawi, has contributed to the success of the pediatric immunization rollout.

He also emphasized the importance of a huge information campaign in promoting the immunization program, particularly in Muslim communities.

According to Galvez, ten regions have vaccinated 70% of the target population, and five have vaccinated more than 80% of the population.

Galvez said the Zamboanga Peninsula, which is among the places with high immunization rates, has more than 71 percent of its target population fully immunized.

According to the most recent NTF data, 61,626,201 adult Filipinos have been fully vaccinated, including those who received single-dose Janssen and Sputnik Light vaccines, while 210,000 minors between the ages of 5 and 11 have received their first dose of the reformulated low-dose Covid-19 vaccine.
