The supply of PH vaccines is constant, but transportation costs are increasing, according to the Department of Health.
MANILA, Philippines โ The European crisis after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has had little effect on the country’s vaccine supply, which is mostly derived from Western countries, but shipping prices are expected to rise, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
“[A]s of now, we don’t see any issues with the other vaccines, save that baka tumaas iyong presyo kasi nga iyong pag-transport, etc. However, I am confident that we will be able to handle basta naayos na iyong ating mga contract agreements (with the exception that expenses may rise due to the impact on transportation, etc.). But I’m confident we’ll be able to handle it because the contract agreements have already been secured) “When asked how the Ukraine-Russia war will affect vaccination delivery, Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje replied in a Laging Handa briefing.
Oil prices soared above $100 a barrel on February 24 when Russia launched a military assault on Ukraine, which Kiev branded as a “war of aggression.”
Cabotaje stated that deliveries are currently on track, but that there are minor delays in the shipping of vaccines for children aged five to eleven.
“In terms of payments, may kaunting aberya, but naayos na iyan. So imbes na may dadating na 1.6 million (jabs) noong February 23 ay first week of March na dadating So instead of 1.6 million vaccinations scheduled on February 23, they will arrive in March) “she stated
“We hope that the pagbigay ng ibang cargo ng ating five to eleven years old na bakuna is on schedule. However, iyong ating mga ibang bakuna, iyong ating adult na Pfizer ay on track naman po iyan (We hope that vaccine shipping for children aged five to eleven will return to normal, but Pfizer for adults is on track), “she continued.
Meanwhile, she stated that the country has no plans to purchase additional Sputnik V vaccines because supplies of the Russian-made vaccines are “sufficient.”
