MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) announced on Tuesday that counterfeit items and ‘ukay-ukay’ (worn garments) worth PHP500 million were seized last week at a warehouse in Valenzuela City.

These products were seized during an inspection at the warehouse along E. San Andres cor. T. Santiago St. in Barangay Canumay West on March 7, according to the BOC.

Bales of worn clothing, power banks, face masks, and garments carrying the trademarks Gucci, Chanel, Fendi, and Louis Vuitton were discovered by members of the team led by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Port of Manila.

Pipe fittings, carpet rolls, refrigerants, caustic soda flakes, and a box of miscellaneous jewels and watches were also seized.

The BOC also stated that an inquiry and inventory will be undertaken for probable violations of Republic Act 10863, generally known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act, and the Philippine Intellectual Property Code.

The inspection was also carried out in collaboration with the CIIS-Intellectual Property Rights Division, the Philippine Coast Guard, and the National Bureau of Investigation.
