PRRD reaffirms its commitment to keeping Filipinos safe and healthy.
MANILA, Philippines โ On Thursday, President Rodrigo R. Duterte reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to keeping Filipinos safe and healthy as the country works to recover and reduce the economic impact of the Covid-19 outbreak.
“The government remains committed to keeping everyone safe and healthy, especially now as we endeavor to regain economic and social stability for our country,” Duterte stated in a video message at SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City during the Resbakuna ceremonial vaccination for the 2nd booster dose.
During the occasion, Duterte thanked the frontline healthcare professionals and senior residents who waited in line to receive their second booster shots.
Getting vaccinated against Covid-19, he claims, protects not just the individuals, but also their families and the entire country.
On the response to Covid-19, a presidential adviser For his part, Secretary Vince Dizon underlined the necessity of getting vaccinated as well as adhering to minimal public health requirements.
“Gusto kong mapaalala sa ating lahat na ang bakuna talaga at itong maskโฆito talagang dalawang ‘to ang nagsasalba sa tinโฆito talagang dalawang ‘to ang nagsasalba sa tinโฆito talagang dalawang ‘to ang nagsasal Ito ang dahilan kung bakit ang malls natin ay napupuno ng tao ngayon, ito ang dahilan kung bakit ang ating mga kababayan ay nakakabalik na sa trabaho These are the reasons why our malls are now packed, and our countrymen can go back to work),” he explained.
The Department of Health (DOH) organized the Resbakuna ceremonial vaccination for the 2nd booster dose in collaboration with its regional offices and SM Supermalls to highlight the Duterte administration’s steadfast response to the Covid-19 pandemic by protecting every Filipino until the end of its term.
According to DOH data, almost 1.09 million health workers and 2.14 million older residents are eligible for second booster doses as of May 19.
The health workers were given a homologous booster, which was the same vaccination brand as their initial additional dosage, whereas the elderly were given a heterologous shot from a different manufacturer.
Pfizer jabs were delivered to Mandaluyong Mayor Benjamin Abalos Sr., three medical front-liners, and three senior residents during the occasion.
The second booster was first made available to immunocompromised people, including organ transplant recipients, cancer and HIV/AIDS patients, those with primary immunodeficiency, and people who take immunosuppressants.
The National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC) reported on May 23 that over 69 million people, or 76.70 percent of the target population, have been fully vaccinated, with approximately 14 million receiving booster doses.
