MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – The town of Malasiqui is located in the province of Pangasinan As of February 21, the Department of Education (DepEd) Ilocos Region had fully vaccinated 44,027 teaching and non-teaching workers against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Dr. Romarie Castillo, DepEd Ilocos Region medical officer, revealed that of the overall number, 25,596 are teaching workers and 18,431 are non-teaching personnel in a virtual press conference on Tuesday.

“Out of the whole 58,122 eligible population, we are already at 92 percent immunization of teaching and non-teaching workers,” she noted.

According to Castillo, 2,864 personnel have registered and are awaiting their immunization schedule, while 1,719 have declined to register due to health issues, religious convictions, or other personal reasons.

“We’re still trying to persuade them to get vaccinated,” she said.

Only vaccinated teachers are permitted to participate in the region’s ongoing expanded limited face-to-face lessons, according to Castillo.

During in-person classes, she noted, strict adherence to the basic health requirements is still in place and observed.
