The AFP receives donated construction supplies for the renovation of camps and bases.

MANILA, Philippines โ€” GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF) provided building supplies to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for use in repairing military barracks and patrol outposts severely destroyed by Typhoon Odette in December.

“We are grateful to the GMA Kapuso Foundation, one of our valued partners, for supporting the AFP and assisting us in the rebuilding of our camps. “We are grateful to have partners with whom we can engage and coordinate in order to provide better services to our people,” AFP chief Gen. Andres Centino said in a statement late Monday.

The ceremony took place at the AFP General Headquarters Canopy in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, on April 25. Centino, GMAKF executive vice president and chief operating officer Rikki Escudero-Catibog, AFP acting deputy head of staff for logistics Brig. Gen. Rene Raoul Rommel Honasan, and AFP chief engineer Maj. Gen. Gerardo P. Catindoy was among those who presided over the occasion.

The 4th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army (PA) received 520 lightbulbs, 800 corrugated roof sheets, 100 ridge rolls, and eight boxes of roofing nails.

The GMAKF also provided 5,500 hard hats to the PA, Philippine Air Force, and Philippine Navy engineer units.

The 51st Engineer Brigade, the 52nd Engineer Brigade, the 53rd Engineer Brigade, the 54th Engineer Brigade, the 55th Engineer Brigade, the 355th Aviation Engineer Wing, and the Naval Combat Engineer Brigade will receive these.

“We want to express our gratitude to the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps for all of their assistance. You aided the Filipino people at the grassroots level through us. Working alongside our warriors on the battlefield is such an honor,” Escudero-Catibog remarked.

The GMAKF has also been a long-time collaborator of the AFP in providing disaster relief to people in the Philippines.

The AFP has aided the GMAKF in the rehabilitation and building of hanging bridges in Dingalan, Aurora; Naawan-Manticao, Misamis Oriental; Paquibato, Davao; Pansur, Lanao del Norte; and Iraya and San Ramon, Buhi, Bicol, through its engineering units.

It also helped the organization develop schools in Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Catanduanes, Lanao del Norte, Zamboanga, and Marawi.

“Be assured of the Armed Forces’ unwavering assistance for the GMA Kapuso Foundation amid natural disasters anywhere in the country.” Centino stated, “We will continue to be your partner in assisting our compatriots in times of need.”
