MANILA – The Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) is presently 63.35 percent complete, according to the Department of Transportation (DOTr). It is one of the Duterte administration’s signature transportation projects.

The DOTr stated on Facebook that construction on the project is continuing to intensify in order to serve the public as soon as possible.

“Once the MRT-7 is completed and operational, the previous two to three-hour travel time between North Avenue and San Jose del Monte in Bulacan would be reduced to just 35 minutes,” the DOTr added.

It is estimated that the MRT-7 will be able to transport 300,000 to 500,000 passengers each day.

The MRT-7 concession deal was completed on June 8, 2008, after it was first proposed in an unsolicited bid in August 2001.

The project had not materialized at the start of the Duterte government in 2016.
