Despite the increased demand for the start of classes, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has reassured parents of students that there would be enough school supplies.

According to the monitoring of major businesses on Friday, Glen Fernando, a DTI-Antique Trade and Industry Development Specialist, observed an acceptable supply of school supplies being sold within the Suggested Retail Price (SRP).

There is no need to be concerned about the availability of school supplies because the main retailers still have enough, according to Fernando.

He continued by saying that some provincial retail establishments were even selling school supplies for less than the SRP as a result of lower supplier acquisition and shipping expenses.

Fernando warned retailers to abide by the recently released SRP since DTI staff will be checking them every week.

The Advance brand notebook costs PHP17.60, Happy pad paper PHP14, and Avanti ballpen PHP19, according to the SRP published by the DTI on August 12.

School supplies are monitored by the DTI to make sure they are available and being sold within the SRP in accordance with Republic Act 7581, also known as the Price Act, which classifies them as primary commodities.

The National Book Store and Expressions at Robinson’s Mall are two of the five significant retailers the DTI oversees in San Jose de Buenavista that sell school supplies.
