The House of Representatives is advocating for the preservation of monies designated for gasoline subsidies and the Department of Transportation’s Libreng Sakay program, according to Speaker Martin G. Romualdez on Tuesday (DOTr).

The Pantawid Pasada Fuel Program will receive PHP25 billion, Libreng Sakay will receive PHP2 billion, and PHP1 billion will be allocated as part of the institutional amendments for pro-people initiatives in the national budget.

In light of the rising cost of fuel, he claimed that the government’s fuel subsidy program is still one that motorists and business owners look forward to.

The Libreng Sakay scheme, according to House, will significantly benefit commuters. The head of the House Committee on Appropriations, Rep. Zaldy Co of the Ako Bicol Party, said, “We funded that because it was required.

As required by the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act, the service contracting or Libreng Sakay program of the DOTr and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) went into effect in 2020. In 2021 and 2022, it was kept.
