With the help of the Office of Civil Defense in Bicol (OCD-5), the provincial government of Camarines Sur has conducted training to create competent teachers for the province’s disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) capability-building initiatives.

At the provincial government building in Pili town, the training got underway on Monday.

The five-day Training for Instructors (TFI) is a continual endeavor to provide knowledge and enhance the capacities of the various groups in times of calamities, according to Gremil Alexis Naz, a spokeswoman for OCD-Bicol.

The 38 participants, who have already completed various DRRM-related training sessions, include local DRRM officials and members of Camarines Sur’s provincial DRRM council.

Lesson preparation, creating communicative visuals, instructional strategies, classroom management, and group meetings are among the topics covered in the course.

The first province in Bicol to take the reins in organizing a TFI is Camarines Sur.

Bicol region is one of the most disaster-prone regions in the Philippines due to its geophysical location and is frequently affected by typhoons, causing floods and landslides.
